Monte Ackerman Promoted To Plant Manager at MGPI's Pekin, Illinois Facility

ATCHISON, Kan., March 3, 2008—MGP Ingredients, Inc. (MGPI) announced that Monte Ackerman has been promoted to the position of plant manager at the company's Pekin, Ill. operations. He joined MGPI as facilities manager in Pekin in the spring of 2007. In addition to maintaining the responsibilities of that position, he also becomes responsible for leading efficient plant operations at the Pekin location.

"Monte has done a great job of leading our maintenance department and brings tremendous knowledge in business processes and reliability systems creation and implementation," said Asif Malik, general manager of the Pekin facility. "We look forward to the integration of production execution and equipment reliability in our plants in which he will play a major role in his new responsibilities."

Before joining MGPI, Ackerman served as maintenance reliability superintendent with Archer Daniels Midland Company in Iowa, from 2002 to 2007. Prior to that, he worked for American Crystal Sugar Company as a mechanical engineer from 1996 to 2000 and from 2001 to 2002. Between his years of employment there, he was employed as a maintenance coordinator with Potlatch Corporation. In these positions, Ackerman reduced waste and downtime, increased productivity and developed, as well as implemented, maintenance programs. He has an extensive background in preventative and predictive maintenance programs, capital projects, CMMS and warehouse implementation, AIB/GMP, PSM, and OSHA safety experience.

Ackerman's career has also included serving 10 years in the United States Navy. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis, where he earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
